When all else fails make your mistake look like Good Luck

I can hardly believe what I heard tonight come out of the mouth of a bridal shop worker to my sister.

In short he said that it is ok that the shop he works at has made so many mistakes because perfect wedding equal short marriages. As if all the mistakes they have made will give my sister and her love good luck.
My sister near in tears could not agree but she tried to not make waves. I on the other hand wanted to make them for her but tried to remain calm.
I am on vacation down here for my sister’s wedding; my 4 children are in the wedding. I have only heard bits of all the issues with this shop but let me give you a summery.
First, they promised her the moon and stars saying that at other places she would just be a number but to them it is all personal and they would make it perfect.
She ordered dresses, put money down. She called a week and a half later asking why they had not yet charged for one of the bride’s maid’s gowns. She was then informed that the dress she ordered for my 4 year old is on back order.
Time is ticking down. She called them and they told her this news…. they said they had only found out about it that day. Ok benefit of the doubt, but then they said they could only order these other dresses that where more costly. The final solution my sister found was to order an adult dress in xsmall and have our mother alter it. So they ordered. It was supposed to be in Monday. It was not there. I was also not in on Tuesday.
Tonight we went to pick it up thinking it would not be more than a day late. It is not there. My sister paid for all the dresses, picked a few others up and found my 12 year old daughters dress thrown across a prop, the same way the owner had put it down last week. It had stains on it, something off and the lady said she would get it steamed out and if it was not fixed would order a new one. The dress still has that same issue, either it was never done or it did not work.
Either way the owner never called my sister and now with just 7 days left till the wedding another has to be ordered. The owner could not be contacted.
My sister now has two dresses in limbo; they match the others in her wedding party so it is not as if this is an easy fix. Poor girl. The lack of communication and poor customer service are huge issues. She is really regretting going with them for her wedding at this point.
We shall see how this plays out and I will be giving them an honest review on wedding sites and such as soon as the wedding has happened. Please keep my sister in your thoughts, she is very stressed.

  1. Oh, no! Hopefully it all gets resolved. She should also post this on The Consumerist, Yelp, and any other place that does service reviews. :-(

  2. Surely not.. first thing, big hug for sis…secondly, remind her the very most important aspects of her wedding are she, her love, the pastor and the license…Everything else is only gravy… When it all boils down to it, the wedding is all about you and the one you love… It is tru that no one’s wedding goes off w/o a hitch, but that’s just because we feeble humans are involved! Some days we can’t work ourselves out of a paper bag. And it surely sounds as if the boutique is a dud… I can’t imagine having to deal with such inadequacy. I would also reccomend calling the BBB… They are always interested in business who don’t practice good business senseability. But, most importantly, best wishes for a long and beautiful life to your sis and the love of her life!
