The seasonal ingredients of autumn present an opportunity for us as parents to introduce new flavors and textures that will help to expand baby’s palate in creative ways! Introducing new textures and flavors serve developmental purposes, as well!
The subtle smell of a new food, a taste complexity and discovering a new texture is an important step on the path to solid food.
As they grow older, babies become more selective and “picky;” therefore, including a wide variety of foods in their diet as early as possible is important.
For more information, visit Earth’s Best website and check-out the article “Infants’ Unpredictable Palates which discusses the natural progression of the tastes and interests of babies.
Earth’s Best has a variety of all-natural and organic products that bring seasonal flavors to baby’s plate including:
1st Foods – Squash
1st Foods – Sweet Potato
2nd Vegetables- Green Beans and Rice
The motto for getting kids to learn to like vegetables is “early and often,” and autumn is a perfect time to get in the spirit. Remember though there is no such thing as too late to try new flavors. Babies are specially excited to imitate the actions of their parents and those close to them so be sure to eat well and in season too. Match the seasonal veggies you’re eating with the flavors you’re offering your children as encouragement! All Earth’s Best vegetables are made with organic ingredients grown from the earth without harmful pesticides! Earth’s best is a brand I trust and love. They want the best for our little ones and not just the bottom dollar. Earth’s Best is worth every penny in my opinion. You can’t get too much, and I don’t think you can go wrong introducing as many fruits and veggies as possible.
When introducing a new vegetable to your baby, keep expectations realistically low. Expect the first taste, on day one, to be spit out, but try again the next day, and the next. More than likely, by the end of the week, baby will be eating several spoonfuls and then jars!
My baby is now two and sometimes I feel like she is just not getting enough veggies into her. It is not uncommon to see me pick up a jar or pouch of Earth’s Best fruits or veggies and add it to her meal just to make sure she is getting the best and most guilt free food I can give her. Even at 2 we work at expanding her pallet. It can be a lot easier to keep baby food in the baby bag than fresh foods so even if you have a toddler, don’t discount baby food. I see too many parents stuck on just high carb, high sugar, snacks simply because they are easy to put in the baby bag and go. We can do better! Lets let fall inspire us with some great savory flavors!
